What To Expect During a Contact Lens Fitting

Schedule A Lens Fitting Exam at Our Sites Vision Clinic in Clarksville or Elkton

When making the change from eyeglasses to contact lenses, there are several things you need to do. The first and most important thing you have to do is schedule an appointment with your eye doctor for a contact lens fitting. Here at Sites Vision Clinic, we can't express how important this is.

What Does a Lens Fitting Involve?

Here at Sites Vision Clinic, we offer lens fitting exams with the intention of doing everything we possibly can to ensure our patients can safely wear contacts. We also want to be sure the contacts fit your eyes properly. The very first thing we do here in our clinic is to sit down with our patients to get a history of any medical conditions, issues, or concerns you might have. This is important as there are some medical conditions that could cause problems with contact wear.

Choosing Proper Fitting Lenses

Once we gain a thorough understanding of your medical history, our doctors will choose a lens based on its diameter, curb, and thickness. From there we will fit them into your eyes to make sure they fit correctly. If they don't, we will continue to evaluate your eyes and lenses until we find the right fit. Once the contact lens fitting exam reaches the point where a proper lens fit is determined, and you are comfortable then we move on to the next phase of the exam.

Education and Follow-up

The proper care of your lenses in your eyes after you have been fitted for your contacts is crucial. We take the time to make sure you are properly educated on how to properly clean, store and handle your contact lenses. We provide pamphlets, but we also take the time necessary to answer any questions you have, because we want you to leave our offices both confident and comfortable.
