If you have contact lenses that aren't able to fit over your eyes or are uncomfortable, it's best to speak to your optometry specialist for help in getting hard-to-fit contacts. One such pair of hard-to-fit contacts are scleral lenses.

Scleral lenses are unique content lenses that can fit over your eye and improve a wide range of vision disorders. At Sites Vision Clinic in Clarksville, we'll help get you outfitted with contact lenses to improve your vision and correct refractive errors. Scleral Contact Lenses

What are scleral lenses?

Scleral lenses, as the name suggests, are contact lenses that fit over the entirety of the eye. Scleral lenses can help people with diseases such as keratoconus, which causes a corneal irregularity that makes it almost impossible for traditional contact lenses to fit over the cornea.

Scleral lenses can also be used for people with severe dry eyes and people with advanced ocular disease. The scleral lens is big enough to have a fluid reservoir, which helps with dry eyes, and it can also be used to help people see after LASIK surgery.

How can an optometrist help me?

Our optometrist will determine if you are a good candidate for scleral lenses. They will conduct a vision and eye exam to determine if a prescription is needed for contact lenses and if you have a refractive error that can be corrected with scleral lenses such as myopia, or nearsightedness.
